Community Guidelines & Code of Conduct

1 Purpose & values

Our community exists to unite people respectfully, foster informed dialogue, and organize lawful civic action. Everyone should feel welcome, safe, and heard.

2 Expected behavior (be welcoming, respectful, truthful)

  • Respect & inclusion: No harassment, hate speech, derogatory slurs, or discrimination based on identity or beliefs. Strive for empathy and curiosity. (See Mozilla’s inclusive framing.)
  • Truth & accountability: Share accurate, well-sourced information; correct mistakes promptly.
  • Civility in disagreement: Critique ideas, not people; avoid personal attacks.
  • No spam or manipulation: No mass-posting, brigading, fake engagement, or scams.

3 Prohibited content & conduct

  • Harassment, threats, stalking, doxxing, intimidation, sexualized or violent content.
  • Hate speech or dehumanizing language against protected groups.
  • Misinformation intended to mislead on civic processes or safety.
  • Illegal activities, incitement to violence, or IP infringement.
  • Impersonation of individuals/organizations; deceptive identities.

4 Reporting process

  • Report violations via report buttons or email report@cometogethercanada.com with URLs, screenshots, and context.
  • Confidentiality: We protect reporter privacy where possible; we may need limited disclosure to investigate.

5 Enforcement ladder (consistent, predictable)

  • Level 0 – Educate: Informal reminder; resource links to policies.
  • Level 1 – Notice: Written warning with specific guidance.
  • Level 2 – Cool-off: Temporary mute or limited posting privileges.
  • Level 3 – Suspension: Time-bound account suspension.
  • Level 4 – Removal: Permanent ban; content removal when required.
  • Severe cases (e.g., credible threats): Immediate ban; report to authorities.

6 Appeals

Submit an appeal within 14 days to appeals@cometogethercanada.com with your username, decision date, and reasons. A different moderator/admin will review.

7 Transparency

We’ll publish periodic transparency notes (e.g., counts of removals/suspensions, major policy updates) to build trust.

8 Events & Offline Conduct

Our community standards and code of conduct apply not only to online interactions but also to any in-person events, including meetups, workshops, petitions, or rallies organized under the Come Together Canada name.

Organizers may establish additional safety, security, or participation rules based on the nature of the event or venue requirements. All such guidelines and event-specific policies will be clearly communicated and published on our website in advance so participants can review them before attending.
